Linking up with Jen at Conversion Diary for this Friday's 7 Quick Takes:
1. Remember that little crib we were "re-doing"?
Well, we painted it, and painted it and painted it more. It just soaked up all the paint. Finally, it looked somewhat decent, so we sprayed some varnish on it and called it good. I don't think it will last long anyway, but it's cute for a month or so!
2. We planted a garden. More on that soon (talking about planting with kids on our summer activity link-up)!
We hope to have some spaghetti squash, watermelon, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, cucumbers, carrots, okra and herbs. We'll see what makes it!
3. Who likes to play in the water when it's 65ish degrees? These boys. This is how I've found them in the yard almost every day this week.
Once the grass greens up, it might be more enjoyable for everyone. For now, they just drag that old Bermuda into the house all.day.long while I try to find the good in it as I vacuum all.day.long. ;)
4. Speaking of yards, the tumbleweeds that have blown in for weeks on end came back this week after us having cleared them for the millionth time. Doesn't seem like a big deal until you consider what those weeds provide a home for. Mice now...snakes later. Makes me cringe even thinking about them. However, I just looked outside at the boys playing, and lo and behold they were pounding something on the ground with their toy shovels. Stuart is no longer a part of the family. Thank the Lord. Get after it, boys!
5. These little bad boys have been rescued.
For a solid week, I couldn't find Carter's favorite shoes anywhere, and every.single.time I asked the boys where they were, they grinned and said they flushed them down the toilet. They've never flushed more than a little too much tp down, so I was questioning it at first. Plus we didn't have any clogging going on. However, they stuck with their story, and I couldn't find the shoes anywhere, so I finally believed them...until this week when Carter said, "Oh jus kidding, Mom. Dey are at da bottom of da toy box, hahaha!" They were.
6. I have a ton of blueberries I need to use. Anyone have a recipe that I just must try?
7. On Monday, I'm hosting a link-up with a few other moms. Be sure and check it out:

This is one of my favorite recipes to use for blueberries (although I guess best for summer when peaches are in season :)

That crib is precious and it turned out great!
You could just send the blueberries to me! There so very expensive over here, still!
ReplyDeleteBlueberry lemon scones!!! They are my families favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, the shoe thing is really funny. I love that they planned a scheme, stuck with it, and it worked! I'm also glad they didn't flush it down the toilet!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the crib. I could also see taking one side of it off and adding some back pillows to make a reading nook, or over with fabric to create a fort. The sturdy base and low front make it great for alternate uses. I like freezing blueberries in a layeron a cookie sheet and then holding in ziploc in the freezer when there is an abundance.
ReplyDeleteThe crib is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the crib! What silly boys hehe! You should make blueberry scones!
