My sweet friend Maggie recently became an independent distributor of Shaklee. When she asked me to review the Get Clean Starter Kit for her, I really knew next to nothing about these products. So, to their website I went, and here's what they say:
Shaklee provides the best nutrition in every area that matters. From vitamin and mineral supplements, cognitive, joint and heart health*, and weight-loss products, to skin care, healthy hair, and green and non-toxic household products, Shaklee gives you what you need to create healthier lives for you and your family.
So, I agreed to try them, and I'm so glad I did! To be quite honest, I didn't think they'd work that well...being all-natural. I know that's ignorance speaking, but it's also honesty. But, I thought I'd give them a try, since it was such a nice offer, and since my kids could then take part in cleaning.
As fate would have it, when the box arrived, John Paul had just done this...as if he new what might be in the box. Yes, that's strawberry chapstick on the kitchen cabinet.
I asked them to get their cleaning supplies, and we opened the box!
The Get Clean Starter Kit contains these products:
What I loved most about the products is that for each spray cleaner, you use the same base concentrate in different amounts. The highest amount you ever use is 1.5 teaspoons for 16 ounces of water. So, I'll have cleaner for weeks! I was a bit leery of the cleaning products on my granite countertops. You see, I didn't really think things through when getting the granite, and I got black. Let me tell you, I'll never do that again. It's so hard to get clean...it just always seems to have streaks. So, I didn't think I'd like these products for that. Surprisingly they work really well! And, the kids can now clean the counter with the Shaklee degreaser.
One thing I wish the cleaning products had was more of a scent. But, Maggie informed me that a few drops of essential oils in the bottles would do the trick, so I added lemon! It's perfect.
Besides the degreaser that I find myself using for everything, I found a couple of products beyond the Get Clean Started Kit that I love...1) the Fabric Softener (it smells so fresh and clean) and 2) Scour Off - I'll show you how well it worked in a bit.
I made an extra bottle for Sophie...
The Scour Off isn't included in the Get Clean Starter Kit, but it's a product I'll definitely keep purchasing. I use one of my Le Creuset dutch ovens to bake breads, and they bake at very high temperatures. Over time, this is what it's come to look like...well-loved. Well, I can never get all of this brown stuff off, regardless of how hard I scrub.
Then, I tried the Scour Off, and this happened....
I didn't even have to rub hard. Next up, I'm trying the inside of my oven, but I'll spare you the before photos!
Since I've had the products (about two weeks), I've found my kids "cleaning" so many things. Aside from sometimes spraying a bit too much, it's not been a cause for concern. And, they really do love helping. I love the laundry detergent, but the softener tops my favorite list with its smell! I have found that the cleaning sprays (one all-purpose, one degreaser, one window) work really well! For ease, I've been using the degreaser (with the highest cleaning concentration) for everything.
So, here's the fun part...Maggie is offering a free fabric softener to the first ten of you who buy the Get Clean Kit between now, and next Monday, February 22nd! In doing so, you sign up as a member via the above link (automatically happens when you order the Get Clean Kit), and you receive free shipping. The membership (which just means discounts on future purchases), free shipping (allowing you to stock up on heavy products like detergent) and free softener is over a $50 value.
It's worth it. When you purchase the Get Clean Kit, she will send you the softener separately (my favorite!).
Plus, for any of you who are not quite sure if you want to try these products yet, just enter the giveaway to win a sample bag from Maggie...allowing you to test some items before you make a decision. She's giving away ten of those as well!
I'm not a salesman, and I will never be an independent distributor of something BUT, I truly have loved trying these cleaning products. And, my kiddos have loved it even more...helping without getting hurt. But, since I was asked to try them, I went for it. And, I'm really glad I did. I think you will be too!
