I used Ina Garten's recipe, and while it wasn't difficult at all, it did have quite a few steps.
Here's a little look:
It called for an entire bottle of wine. I was a bit skeptical that even I would like it, much less the kids.
Then, I was instructed to burn off the cognac. So fun. The boys were in awe! I think this is maybe something that would make the boys a bit more interested in cooking.
Especially John Paul.
this bread. It's our absolute favorite, and I thought it would be perfect with this. It was.
I think it could have cooked in the oven a bit longer to make the meat just a tad more tender.
I also didn't use pearl onions, but oh well.
I took a bite and told my husband to lower his expectations. At first it wasn't what I had in mind. But then...then everyone loved it! Jeremy said it was the best meal he had in a long time. Carter ate it all. Peter had three plates of it, and John Paul even had most of his. Sophie enjoyed the bread.
So, all of that to say the extra steps were well worth it. Full tummies and a full heart. I'm pretty blessed!
