QOTW: 4/18/13

Carter decided to lay down on the floor and whine when I asked him to do something.  So, as I had warned him, consequences came.  I disciplined him (just so happened to be right under the crucifix in our living room) and then put him in the baby bed to think about it.  When I went in there the conversation went like this:

Britt:  Carter, can you tell me why you are in the baby bed?
Carter: (nodding): When I did not obey you and laid on the floor and trew a fit like a baby.  And, I was getting a pankin, I did look up at Jesus and tot, COME DOWN OFF DAT TROSS AND WESCUE ME!!!  He didn't.  Jesus is sad when i do not obey mommy and daddy.

Carter hasn't been able to watch cartoons lately (in response to some night-time troubles we are having with him.  So, I had EWTN on yesterday instead (come to find out, he likes all forms of TV).  While I was in the kitchen cleaning up the mess, he came in to say:

"Mom, may I please watch The Journey Home?  I love dat show." (A show about converts to Catholicism). Remembering the night, I suggested "The Exorcism" instead.

Bad joke.

The next day Carter wanted to watch "The Journey Home" again.  All that happened to be on at the time was The Rosary with Mother Angelica.  So I turned it on, and he sat to watch it.  Minutes later I hear:

Carter: Mom is dat Moder Angelica?
Me: Yes, it is (going in to take a peak).
Carter: What's dat (as a picture of The Baptism of the Lord appeared on the screen)?
Me:  John the Baptist baptizing Jesus.  (Mind you, it didn't show any water).
Carter: (confused).  Well....where is da Wiver Jordan?

Maybe he is paying attention :)

 Have a blessed weekend!

  1. Better watch out for that kid - he's tracking at a pretty high level there! I love the WESCUE ME quote. Humor is a great set-up for the big revelations to hit home.
