40/52: The Dirt Mountain

We don't have a place for the kids to ride their bikes.  Well, they can't really ride a bike yet, but their training-wheel bikes/trikes.  So, we're getting a small slab put in for that...and future basketball games, and maybe even a bit of chalk art.  So, we got home from running errands today, and there was a pile of dirt that looked like Heaven for the boys (and girl!).  Off they went...for about an hour!

Carter // 5 - a bit out of focus, but he was intent on working in that dirt!

 Peter // 3 - he found a worm!

John Paul // 2 - his various smiles always make me smile!

Sophie // 1 - queen of the mountain!
And, I couldn't resist this photo of them waiting for their daddy to come out of the barn with the skid loader.

The Rest of the Coyote Hunt

Sunday evening, the kids were getting a little restless, so Jeremy decided it would be a fun little adventure to go set a coyote trap.  It was our first pretty chilly day for the Fall, and we were in a bit of a hurry, so he scooped Sophie up, added a pair of her brothers' socks to warm her little legs, and off we went to the creek.

Peter wanted to do some exploring of his own along with John Paul, as Carter and Sophie walked with Jeremy to try to find the perfect spot.

John Paul discovered water...and his day was complete.

The Alabama hat was a gift, by the way.  We only cheer for the Aggies!

These three came back with news that they found the perfect spot for a trap, so off we went to set it.

Well, some people set it, while others wrote letters in the sand.
And, this little gal did get to hang out outside for a bit but was pretty content just waiting in the truck.
 The boys at work...

Then, the waiting game began.  The next day, all the boys went back out to check on things, and they discovered that their trap wasn't quiet sensitive enough...a coyote had come and gone, leaving a bit of a trail behind, but the trap was still set.

Oh well, better luck next time!

39/52: Hunting for Coyotes

Well, the weather turned quite a bit cooler at the end of the week.  Today we bundled up and went down to the creek to look for coyotes.  We didn't see anything, but we had a good time just being outside and making our own fun.  And, I have a feeling the next time we go, we might just find one!

Carter // 5 - Every now and then he would take a break to draw his name in the sand.

Peter // 3 - He wanted to climb "all the mountains."

John Paul // 2 - He was mainly throwing anything he could find into the water below.
Sophie // 1 - Well, she was pretty content playing in the truck.
