Sock Surfing

Some mornings the kids are better at playing by themselves than others.  When they're extra quiet, I know deep down that I should check on them, but more often than not, I try to just soak those moments up.  Well, the other morning it was quiet, and then it got progressively louder, quickly! So, off I went to check on them.  And, as I got to the living room, I saw a streak pass the hallway opening.

They were "sock surfing" through the hallway ocean.
Last summer, in California, we met some friends of ours, and they went boogie boarding a little bit. The boys haven't stopped talking about it.
So, I guess they just decided to bring some form of surfing to our dry, flat land of NM.

When I first came in on them, I noticed their socks were on upside down - all of the lettering was on the top of their feet.  As I looked at it weirdly, Carter said "Oh Mom, if we had our socks on the right way, we couldn't slip and slide - this wouldn't work."  Duh, Mom.

Genevieve so badly wanted to join in.

And, then we of course had some business to take care of.

So, while some days the quiet means a huge mess, this particular day was just fun.
