A week or so before Ash Wednesday, we were asked it we wanted to participate in a pilot program, per se, for a new monthly Catholic subscription box. Since we're lovers of the Kiwi and Koala Crates, I thought the kids would love to give this one a try. It's called The Mass Box, and it has been so much fun!
Inside The Mass Box are supplies to create a craft centering around the gospel for each Sunday Mass and Holy Day. The week before each particular Sunday, a new video comes out on YouTube detailing how the craft can be done with your little ones. It's called Catholic crafts with Clare, and it's a quick video that is fun to watch with the kids before you begin the craft, making the explaining so much easier.
For Ash Wednesday, the kids decorated a picture of themselves and then marked their foreheads with ashes.
Genevieve was a silent observer.
Peter also drew Jesus on the cross.
Some pictures looked more like their creators than others...
The next week, we talked about Jesus' time in the desert...
John Paul might have told someone he studied Goliath in the forest rather than Jesus in the desert, but we're getting there.
Then, we did Jesus' family tree...
And, the last one we have done thus far is the burning bush...maybe their favorite!
We really like glue...
And, John Paul loves big balls of fire...
Our burning bush...
I love being able to store all of the supplies in this cute bag.
And, we've created a space to hang their works of art...
In addition to the neat crafts, The Mass Box comes with a subscription to MagnifiKid, and it has so many great activities as well. So, there's almost more than you can ask for each week, but it's such an easy way to spark an interest in the Mass for little ones, especially if you are a bit craft illiterate like me. It is so much easier as a parent not having to come up with applicable activities on your own!
