The Day

Our days vary around here.  Some days go better than others.  But, I can count on the majority of the events being the same.  Here is what it looks like in the Fisk home.

6:00ish - Jeremy and I are awake (sometimes woken up by Carter), and it's a blessing if the room looks like this before we leave it...
6:30ish - Jeremy or I (usually both) get breakfast on the table and eat a quick meal together with the boys.
The playroom still looks like this (if only for a few more minutes).

7:00 - Dad is out the door by now, and the kids and I play (if we don't go with him).  They get dressed (some days).  And, I usually get my make-up on if I haven't already.
9:00ish - John Paul is down for his morning nap (I'm afraid it won't last much longer, and I do not look forward to dropping it).  While he sleeps, the boys watch a little Dora or Veggie Tales, and I get a few things done and lunch prepped.

If it's warm enough, they even go outside for a bit to demolish the flower garden do what boys do.

10:30ish - John Paul is up.  Sometimes, they just want to be right were I am, so they draw or race cars in the kitchen while we get lunch ready for Dad (lunch is our big meal, since Jeremy gets to come home and eat with us.

12:00 - Usually right at noon, we share a meal.
(recipe on Thursday's blog)

Then I clean up the kitchen; we straighten up the rooms, and they're off to nap.

1:15ish - Boys are down for naps.  On a good day, those naps last until 3:30 or 4:00.  And, I mainly find myself in here, working on my blog, emailing and paying bills.

4:00ish - the boys are up again, and it's snack and play time.

5:30ish - Dad is home and we have dinner.  Then, depending on the day, they play hard with dad for an hour or so, have baths and get ready for bed.

7:30 - all boys are in bed (even if not asleep - usually Carter is up 3-4 times) and Jeremy and I play a game, do our own thing or watch a movie.

At some point during the day I get the laundry done, break up arguments, end up cleaning up a ton of messes, and get to read a book or two with the boys.  Some days, I don't get any of the extra stuff done. Some days I spend too much time on the computer saying "Just a minute."  And, then there are days when we have other things planned.

Each day brings something new and a deeper glimpse into parenthood and the minds of our little ones. We're trying to soak it all up!

Our Everyday: Volume 15...

It's a busy time of year on the ranch, but we've been having fun!  We finished branding all of the cattle and are just moving them around to different pastures now.  Summer projects are underway, and the fence work will soon commence, I'm sure!

Carter and Peter have been enjoying the summer days and have been keeping busy for sure.

Peter has enjoyed wearing my heels...

He's even good at balancing in them...

Take a look at those legs...

Carter has been helping me in the kitchen again!  This past week we made some chocolate chip cookies for a friend, tomato soup for a cancer patient, mac 'n cheese for a funeral meal and tortillas for PaPa.  He has been one busy little chef.

He liked to make them bite-sized!

Then the inevitable happened.  They uprooted the mint for the eleventh(or so) time.  And, I decided that I didn't care anymore.  No mint this year.  In Carter's words, "Look Mom, I'm an excavator!"

Getting ready for someone's 3rd birthday and well-checks.

Hope it's a great day for you!

Our Everyday: Volume 13...

This was another yard work weekend!  We planted a garden!  It isn't huge, and we've got a lot to learn in terms of gardening, but we're giving it a shot again.

The boys loved helping.

Carter is "feeding" the soil.

And shoveling a little dirt away.

He's pretty good with a spade.

Hole #1...the pumpkins.

Peter wasn't too sure about it all...

It might have had something to do with the way his Mama dressed him :)

Jeremy hard at work...

And me, in my brainy glasses trying to teach the boys a thing or two about plants.

Tomato plants, please don't die!

Then Carter and I had a little one-on-one time practicing the alphabet in the form of a puzzle.  He's my kid, and I might be a little delusional at times, but he knows all but about 5 letters, and I'm a wee bit proud.

His favorite letter is "C"

And he was thinking really hard about where one particular letter went.

John Paul, on the other hand, was just enjoying some time on the playmat!

Have a blessed week!

Our Everyday: Volume 12...

It's been another good week on the home front :)

Our Easter plants are growing (and might be tossed soon)...

but the grass on the other side of the window is not!

We made a few desserts for a Church function: German Chocolate Upside Down Cake, Hello Dollies, and Chocolate Chip cookies!

The boys didn't disappoint...

and a new one joined the club...

Then it was 80 degrees yesterday and we played outside all.day.long.

However, Peter was a bit apprehensive (the sprinkler was attacking him).

 John Paul enjoyed it...

And the older two helped me start getting the garden ready to plant.

Finding some old carrots (and feeding them to Sugarfoot!).

Carter slept through naps and nights for three nights and he got to go pick out some balloons with Daddy.

I'm not sure if there is anything that brings this boy as much joy as a balloon!

Peter ended his day with a piece of strawberry pie (or two) from Aunt Sammie.

He was in Heaven...

and literally licked his plate.

A close-up of the battle wound from a fall on the road.

We've been moving cattle, praying for rain, enjoying the warmth and loving life!  Thankful for these days :)
